TROUBLESHOOTING *Always be sure your heater is turned off, unplugged and cool to the touch before continuing
 with troubleshooting.

Is the heater lighting (burner glowing red)?
Does the wick easily raise and spring down when the extinguish button is pressed?

  1. Fuel tank empty. Fill with fresh K-1 kerosene, lower wick to lowest position and soak for 60 mins before starting lighting procedure.
  2. Water present in fuel. Draing all fuel, allow to air dry for 24 hours, replace wick. Be sure to soak new wick @ lowest position in fresh fuel for 60 mins before lighting.
  3. Ignitor plug is not glowing. Replace batteries if needed and check ignitor plug for damaged coil (refer to INSTRUCTION MANUAL in TECHNICAL INFORMATION) replace if needed.
  4. Wick is not saturated. If new wick/heater, make sure you left the wick in the lowest position in a FULL tank of fuel for a MINIMUM of 60 mins.
  1. Carbon build-up on your wick. Perform dry burn/carbon removal(refer to INSTRUCTION MANUAL in TECHNICAL INFORMATION) replace if necessary (WICK VIDEO).
  2. Mechanical mechanism is damaged. Replace Wick Adjuster Assembly.
NOTE: Once raised to the highest position, the wick knob will only allow a very small adjustable range back down. This is intended to help keep a correct minimum flame height and protect against damaging your wick and the possibility of carbon monoxide.
  1. Verify tilt switch is properly positioned and secured. The bottom edge of rectangle must be parallel to the floor.
  2. Loose wire connection or damaged tilt switch (refer to WIRING DIAGRAM in TECHNICAL INFORMATION), replace if necessary.
  3. Loose or damaged thermocouple or wire (refer to WIRING DIAGRAM in TECHNICAL INFORMATION), replace if necessary.
  4. Defective valve assembly. Replace if necessary.
  1. Excessive flame height. You need to verify the burner is seated properly EVERY TIME YOU IGNITE THE HEATER. This is done by sliding the burner knob(located within the door) left to right IMMEDIATELY after igniting the heater.
  2. The burner is bent/damaged. Check for damage and replace if necessary.
  3. Carbon build-up on your wick. Perform dry burn/carbon removal (refer to INSTRUCTION MANUAL in TECHNICAL INFORMATION) replace if necessary (WICK VIDEO).
CAUTION: The burner knob gets very hot shortly after lighting the heater. Verify burner position IMMEDIATELY after igniting the unit.
  1. Flame height is too low; raise wick to highest postion, wait 5 minutes, then adjust to maintain a 1/2" flame above the center flame spreader visible through the window.
  2. Carbon build-up on your wick. Perform dry burn/carbon removal(refer to INSTRUCTION MANUAL in TECHNICAL INFORMATION) replace if necessary (WICK VIDEO).
  3. Wick capalaries are damaged and it is not absorbing fuel properly. Replace wick (WICK VIDEO).
  1. If new heater/wick; the wick was not allowed to sit in the lowest position, in a full tank of fuel, for a minimum of 60 minutes. Press extinguish and allow wick to soak for a minimum of 60 mins.
  2. Fuel is contaminated with water. Drain fuel tank, rinse with fresh fuel and air dry for 24 hours. Replace wick (WICK VIDEO), fill fuel tank and soak wick in lowest position for a minimum of 60 minutes.
  3. Wick capalaries are damaged and it is not absorbing fuel properly. Replace wick (WICK VIDEO).
NOTE: Repeated burning with a low flame height(less than 1/2" over the center flame spreader ) will damage the wick and eventually ruin fuel absorbtion. Once capalaries are destroyed the wick will never function properly and must be replaced.
